How Wearables Can Save Your Life

February 27, 2018 | Rob LaPointe

Imagine for a moment you are walking down the street like you always do but this time is different. Your smart device realizes that something is wrong and lets you know. Next thing you know your doctor is telling you it could have been much worse if you didn’t have that smart device on you. How amazing is that and true today? It’s pretty crazy how something as simple as a little wristband can do so much.

There are some amazing wearable technology out there, some of which are too cool to keep quiet. Here are so top ones you should definitely look into.

Fitbit

Most people are aware of Fitbit. It’s an incredibly popular fitness band. It’s great for tracking things like the number of steps you take in a day or your heart rate. What’s really incredible about this thing is that beneath the fitness information is how it can really save you. There have been multiple cases where the Fitbit detected health issues which allowed those people to get treated early. If they didn’t have those watch things could have been more serious. It monitors certain parts of your body which allow it to realize when something seems abnormal.

Vigo

Have you ever been driving while being very tired? Most people have and it can be dangerous. There are so many accidents caused by people falling asleep at the wheel. Now with this awesome tool Vigo you have a higher chance of staying awake.

It’s just a simple earpiece, similar to that of a Bluetooth. It monitors both your movements and blinking to determine if you are drifting off. Once it determines this is will do 1 of 3 things: Vibrate, LED pulsing, or play a song. You can choose which one you want it to do and it will do just that to wake you up enough to keep you driving safe to your destination.

K’Track Glucose

This is a watch the looks very similar to any other smartwatch. It has a cool sleek design that not only tells time but also tests your Blood Glucose level. It has a biosensor behind the watch that rests up against your wrist. You only have to replace that sensor every 30 days. It’s so simple and takes the work out of testing your levels every day.

You can not only keep track of your levels but also stay healthy at the same time with it’s integrated fitness pieces.

Apple Watch

Most people use this as a quick way to access the features on their iPhone but on your wrist instead of having to dig through your purse to find your phone. However, now that Apple has put an SOS feature on their watches, it has changed the game. If an emergency strikes and you can’t reach your phone, your Apple Watch will call emergency services for you.

No matter what kind of emergency strikes it’s a pretty easy way to get ahold of emergency services. For example, if you are in a car accident your phone may not be handy and your watch can be the saving grace you need.

L’Oréal My UV Patch

This may sound a little strange but it’s literally a patch you can place on the skin that lets you know to stay out of the sun. It’s a simple plastic patch that you just place on your skin. With all the problems today, this can be a very beneficial tool to use. It can help prevent skin cancer. It is definitely useful for anyone who ventures into the sun on a regular basis.

There are so many ways that these smart devices can help you in life. That being said, these devices are still in the beginning stages of technology. There is still a lot of work to be done to get them to tell you right away if there is an issue with any part of your body.

Even with that said it is still amazing what these little devices can do nowadays. Although we have a long way to go, we are starting off pretty good. There are many more devices out there. Everyone is different and requires different things, but even if you have a smart device you keep on you, you just never know when it might come in handy.
